Create beautiful autumnal cards using leaves, paint and natural treasures. A simple, creative activity that encourages little ones to explore the changing season.
Autumn is a wonderful time to get creative with little ones. As the leaves change colour and the days become cooler, there are plenty of natural materials to inspire some lovely homemade cards.
What you’ll need
- Blank cards or folded pieces of card
- Autumn leaves
- Brown, orange, yellow and red paint
- Glue
- Crayons or felt-tip pens
- Optional: small twigs, conkers or seeds
Let’s Get Creative!
Start by taking a little autumn walk together and collecting a few fallen leaves. Talk about their colours, shapes and textures as you explore.
Once back inside, little ones can use the leaves to create prints. Simply paint one side of a leaf, gently press it onto the card and carefully lift it away to reveal a beautiful leaf pattern.
You could also glue dried leaves onto the card to create a colourful autumn collage. Add drawings, patterns or a special message to finish.
These homemade cards make a lovely gift for family members while giving little ones the opportunity to develop their creativity, fine motor skills and appreciation of the natural world.
Happy autumn crafting!
